Preview of Michigan vs. Colorado State

Jim Harbaugh, Michigan’s head coach, has detailed ideas for how the Wolverines will handle the quarterback issue early in the season. Cade McNamara and JJ McCarthy are involved in a tight QB duel, and both will see action in the first two weeks of the season.

After a $5 bet on college football (such as the Wolverines), new FanDuel customers can receive an automatic $150 bonus. That’s right, put $5 on any Michigan game, and you’ll get $150 back. To begin, click here.

McNamara, the returning starter for last year’s Big Ten champions, will receive the start against the Rams in Week 1. In 2021, he will face a Colorado State team that finished 3-9 but allowed just over 200 passing yards per game.

Regardless of who starts at quarterback for the Wolverines, the offense will likely get off to a fast start in Week 1. Running backs Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards, tight end Erick All, and a deep and explosive bunch of receivers anchored by Ronnie Bell all return.

Will there be a Need for Replacement?

Michigan must replace star power on the defensive side of the ball after losing Aidan Hutchinson, David Ojabo, Dax Hill, and Josh Ross to the NFL last season. Harbaugh’s defense is already in the midst of retooling, with one true freshman ready to play on the defensive front and graduate transfer Eyabi Anoma having an early impact.

The excellent news for Harbaugh and the Wolverines is that they will face a new head coach in the season opener against Colorado State. Jay Norvell, who took over for Steve Addazio in the summer, will make his Rams debut in Week 1.

New DraftKings Sportsbook members can bet $5 on any Week 1 college football game, like the Colorado Buffaloes vs Michigan Wolverines, and instantly get $200. To begin, click here.

Norvell joins the Rams after finishing 33-26 in five seasons at Nevada, winning at least seven games every season from 2018 to 21. While Norvell is known for his powerful attacks (Nevada averaged 35.7 points each game and threw for over 4,400 yards in 2021), his first season with Colorado State is expected to have some teething pains.

Prediction for Michigan vs. Colorado State

In the Michigan vs Colorado state prediction, the Wolverines are bringing in two fresh coordinators for 2022. Still, they are inheriting currently working systems that should not have much of a learning curve. Colorado State and new head coach Jay Norvell are not in the same boat.

When a line reaches the mid-20s or higher, there is understandable concern about how the Michigan vs CO state game will unfold. Still, Michigan should be ready to run up and down the field in opposition to the Rams.
